Artesian Heights is a small pocket of west central Las Vegas between Decatur Boulevard and Valley View Boulevard, straddling West Oakey with Charleston to the north and Sahara to the south. Matt came by to assess whether an access panel could be cut into a jetted tub as recommended by a home warranty companys plumber. It could. Polybutylene was used in homes from about 1978 to 1995. Look for gray, sometimes black, plastic pipe under sinks, behind toilets and at the water heater and washer connections. It turns brittle as it reacts with chlorine in treated water, and the class action claim windows closed years ago, so a planned repipe is the honest recommendation when it is found.
