Centennial Hills is the northwest growth area of the City of Las Vegas, built mostly from the 1990s through the 2010s as slab-on-grade, largely two-story tract homes under HOAs, plumbed with copper or PEX and now reaching equipment replacement age.
Centennial Hills runs from the Moccasin Road alignment south to Cheyenne Avenue and from Decatur Boulevard west toward the Red Rock preservation area, crossed by US 95 and the 215 Beltway. It is the newest large residential area inside the City of Las Vegas, built out mostly from the 1990s through the 2010s as master-planned and production tract housing. That means slab-on-grade homes, many of them two stories, with copper or PEX supply lines and ABS or PVC drains. There is no galvanized steel or cast iron to replace here. What wears out is the equipment and the fittings that went in with the house, now twenty to thirty years old.

Tanks installed with homes in the late 1990s and 2000s are at or past their rated life. Hard water scale on elements and tank bottoms means an unflushed heater fails earlier than its label suggests.
Thermal expansion tanks fail without obvious signs, often showing up as a dripping relief valve. Pressure regulators wear and either creep high, stressing fixtures, or drop and cause low pressure complaints.
Angle stops, supply connectors, fill valves and washer hoses are often original. In two-story plans, a failure in an upstairs bathroom or laundry sends water into the living space below.
At about 280 parts per million, roughly 16 grains per gallon, scale fouls tankless heat exchangers and the small passages in shower cartridges, so showers swing hot and cold and tankless output drops without regular descaling.
Copper and PEX of this age leak under the slab less often than older pipe, but it happens, often where a line was damaged during construction. Detection comes first, then the choice between opening the slab and rerouting the line.

Some growth areas just north and west are unincorporated Clark County, so we confirm the authority for your exact address.

Many Centennial Hills homes were built with a stubbed softener loop in the garage because the builder expected owners to add treatment. If nothing is connected, every fixture and appliance in the house runs on untreated very hard water. A softener or conditioning system can be connected to that loop, and our Water Treatment team can explain the options.
Interior work generally does not. Most of Centennial Hills is under associations governed by NRS Chapter 116, and their architectural rules cover exterior appearance, so an exterior tankless unit, a visible treatment system in a side yard or a new heater enclosure may need approval. That is separate from any city permit.
Start with the water heater and its expansion tank, the pressure regulator on the incoming service, and the original angle stops, supply connectors, toilet fill valves and washing machine hoses. In a two-story home, confirm the main shut-off actually closes and consider a pan under an upstairs washer.
